Major Ugandan Clubs

SC VILLA
Pet-named Jogoo (Big Cockerel) and formerly known as Nakivubo boys was established in 1975 as a football nursery club of giants Express Football Club. It was promoted to the premier league in 1979.

Villa is Uganda's soccer powerhouse and has an enviable record on the local scene with 12 league championships and 6 cups, all together 18 trophies. In between took five doubles (League & Cup).

Express FC
Express FC is the oldest premier soccer club in Uganda. It is popularly referred to by its faithful as 'Red Eagles' and was Founded in October 1957.
Top managers of then English Daily, Uganda Express Newspapers founded Express FC. Club legend Jolly Joe Kiwanuka owner of the newspaper was the main architect of the team's foundation.

KCC FC
Founded in 1967, Kampala City Council Football Club (KCC FC) is nicknamed Kasasiro, the club of city cleaners. This is captured in the club symbol of a man with a spade.

The club is fondly called the Brazil of Uganda because of the similarity of club colours with the world beating South Americans and partly because of the club's flair for flowing football.

The club was founded by Yosefu Wamala in 1967 as a welfare and socialising side for department of KCC civil engineering.

Scoul FC
SCOUL derives its name from Sugar Corporation of Uganda Limited, the Lugazi sugar mill.
SCOUL FC was started in 1971 then known as Uganda Sugar Factory FC. The team was disbanded in 1980 and revived in 1984 later changed its name to SCOUL after the Indian Mehta Family repossessed the sugar estate. The sugar factory finances SCOUL FC..

Horizon FC
HORIZON FC is also a new entrant in the Nile Special Super League for 2001.
Horizon that was founded in 1999 is based in Kabale in Western Uganda. Horizon emerged the champions of the Western Region promotional mini league.

Rock Star FC
Rock Star FC is based in Tororo, eastern part of Uganda and was founded In 1998.
It's a new club in the 15-club Nile Special Super league. It qualified last season and makes a debut in the competitive top Division league.

Black Rhino FC
Black Rhino FC is a new team from Northern Uganda. Rhino was founded in October 1998 by a group of businessmen and soccer enthusiasts in Lira town.
Their sole aim was to have a football club that would spearhead the development of football in Lira. Rhino is the only premier soccer league club from Northern Uganda in the 2001 season.
