SinoAfrica Medicines and Health LTD (SMH) has organised an exhibition at Hotel Africana in Kampala. The three-day exhibition which starts today, is aimed at promoting the existing friendship between China and Uganda. It is the first medical exhibition in the country to exhibit high technology medical equipment from renowned manufacturers in China.
According to Wang Li Hong the general manager, the exhibition is aimed at strengthening the delivery of health services in the country by giving tailored information on equipment and technical specifications which are user friendly and applicable in Uganda in order to build capacity.
“It is also aimed at relaying information on the latest innovation of our equipment to our customers who are the medical professionals in Uganda, in the areas of laboratory, imaging and diagnostics,” he explains.
Doctors from Uganda and outside will interact with renowned supplier brands like Mindray who specialise in laboratory technology and medical imaging, Neusoft which is a leading IT solutions and service provider in China, and Beijing Aeomedi Ltd, one of the most professional and biggest manufacturers of modern medical equipment.
Sinoafrica is a Chinese trading company incorporated in Uganda in 1998, and a branch of China’s Northern International Holding (CNIH) Tianjin Medicines and Health Products Import and Export Corporation. CNIH is owned by the government of the People’s Republic of China.
For the last 11 years, SinoAfrica has grown to be one of the leading pharmaceutical, sundries and medical equipment supplier.
“We take pride in having the biggest and modern equipment showroom in East Africa, “says Qui Xue Yong, the manager/engineer.
In the spacious showroom on Plot 2A on Portbell Road, you will come across medical imaging equipment, diagnostic equipment, theatre equipment and instrument set, laboratory equipment and hospital furniture and consumables.
“Our customer sources are expanding rapidly and this is attributed to the fact that we offer a variety of products of high quality at reasonable prices along with perfect aftersales service, “says the general manager.
They supply equipment to the Ministry of Health, Uganda People’s Defence Forces, National Medical Stores, Joint Medical Stores, Mulago Hospital, pharmacies, clinics and several non government organisations.
“The committed and well established relationships have earned us the trust from those credible organisations and companies. Our mission is to import all forms of health supplies and services while promoting human health affairs in Uganda,” he says.
Wang says they have complied with the national regulations and contributed to national programmes like switching to auto disable syringes, treatment of ebola and switching to the artemesin combination Therapy of treating malaria where their ARCO product was recommended to the first line treatment of malaria.
Sinoafrica has provided consultancy and equipped government and private hospitals and health centres. The company has stretched its business interests across borders in Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Southern Sudan and the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo
.
