The Saudi Arabian state was established in the central region of the Arabian Peninsula in the early 18th century in 1932 at the hands of the late King Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman al-Faisal al-Saud. He built the foundation for a constitutional regime, thus establishing a mordern government where once tribal rulers had reigned.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a monarchy with a political system rooted in Islam's cherished traditions and rich culture.
The anniversary of the Kingdom's national day is not just a national occasion, but an important moment to stand in solidarity and contemplate the potential of the great nation to overcome obstacles, difficulties and challenges within the framework of the rulings of the Sharia (Islamic law), which is the constitution.
Together with his children after him who assumed power in the country, namely King Saud, King Faisal, King Khaled and King Fahd great efforts were made to ensure the country progress improves in all walks of life.
The first Saudi state was established in 1157H, when the late Imam Mohammad bin Saud decided to support the call of Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulwahab, aimed at a return to the true Islam.
In 1240H, the second Saudi state was established under the leadership of the late Imam Turki bin Abdullah bin Mohammad bin Saud.
In 1308H the second state came to an end due to local factors.
The 5th Shawal 1319H heralded a new era, when the late King Abdul Aziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Al-Saud captured the city of Riyadh.
On 9th Jumad Al-Awal 1351H the late King Abdul Aziz announced the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following thirty-two years of sincere and dedicated struggle (Jihad), during which he laid down the bases of the nation in the light of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah (the teachings of the Prophet). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed great deeds of the late King Abdul Aziz, who captured the hearts and minds of the people of the country, after years of work on the path of his predecessors - the Al-Sauds. He continued the Jihad to raise the word of God and spread the true religion to unify the country on the basis of truth, justice and security.
The late King Abdul Aziz consistently called for Islamic solidarity and Arab cooperation.
He also contributed to the establishment of the Arab league and the United Nations, when he stood on a number of regional and international issues and events, the Late King Abul Aziz served the causes of the Muslim Umma, particularly the Palestinian cause.
His successors, the late Kings Saud, Faisal, Khaled and Custodian of the two holy mosques, King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, followed the path laid down by the Kingdom's founder and unifier. The present era of King Fahd is also committed to proceed on a path to bring about the Kingdom's progress and prosperity and ensure its peace and security. In 1990 the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd felt the need to revitalize the existing political system. |
