Rural Credit Finance Co Ltd, (RUCREF)

 

Established in 1997, Rural Credit Finance Co Ltd, (RUCREF) was started as a credit scheme in (Volunteer Efforts for development concerns) VEDCO an indigenous non-governmental organization to
help provide financial services to smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs in its areas of operation in the
then war ravaged district of Luwero.

 

However the growth in demand for its services was overwhelming
calling for new strategies and management principles. In 2001 RUCREF was separated from VEDCO to become a fully-fl edged micro fi nance institution and registered as a company limited by shares.

 

RUCREF is licensed to carry out money lending business.

 

VISION: A people enjoying higher quality of life transformed from poor and marginalized communities now accessing fi nancial services.

MISSION: To be a leading provider of fi nancial services to smaller holder farmers and microentrepreneurs to transform their standards of living in a sustainable way.

GOAL: To transform into a microfi nance bank providing high quality and customer driven services in our areas of operation.

AREAS OF OPERATION:
RUCREF operates in 7 districts of Central
Uganda including; Luwero, Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Wakiso, Mukono, Mityana, and Kampala districts spread over a Network of Four Branches. We are consolidating our operations in these areas of operation for the next three years according to our three-year strategic plan, 2009 to 2012.

PRODUCTS:
Four basic products are offered i.e. the group commercial loan which targets bottom petty traders being the core product, the agricultural group loan which is tailored to the needs of small holder farmers, individual loans targeting salaried and SME borrowers as well as Emergency loans.

 

AFFILIATION:
RUCREF is an active member of AMFIU (Association of micro finance institutions of Uganda) and is in the process of gaining membership with SEEP.
