A well-stocked library, state of the art girls’ hall of residence, ample lecture rooms and a strong students’ guild are the major strength of the 10-year-old Nkumba University. Arthur Baguma tells us more about it.
Background
Nkumba has evolved from a community kindergarten established in 1951. Over the years, the kindergarten grew into primary, junior secondary school and then a Vocational School in 1969. In 1974, it became an A-level commercial school and in 1980 the trustees were incorporated as the Registered trustees of Nkumba College of Commerce and Advanced studies. In 1994, the trustees upgraded the college to a university. It is a private university with a bias in business studies.
