    Minimum entry requirements

    Applicants should have:
    • 'O' Level Certificate
    • Obtained at least 2 principal 'A' level passes and 1 subsidiary pass for degree courses.
    • 'A' level Certificate with a principal pass for diploma courses.
    • 'O' Level Certificate for direct entry into the Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing course
    • Been enrolled with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council and have had at least two years working experience for extension entry into the Enrolled Comprehensive Nurses course.

    Duration of courses

    The courses listed above have corresponding durations i.e Undergraduate degree courses are 3 years and 4 years for LLB All Diploma courses are 2 years except for Clinical Medicine and Community Health which is 3 years. Certificate course for Comprehensive Enrolled Nursing is 3 years for direct entry and 2 years for those admitted on extension basis. All certificate courses in computer science are 3 months. The MBA and M.Ed programmes are 2 years.

    Access Programme

    The University is able to consider applications from students who do not possess the minimum qualifications described above. Such cases would include:
    • Students from outside Uganda whose education system is different from that of Uganda.
    • Mature students with substantial relevant experience who were not afforded an opportunity to sit 'A' Level examinations.
    • 'A' Level leavers who have failed to obtain a second principal pass.
    In such cases admission may be granted provided that the student follows a KIU "Access Course" designed to remedy the deficiencies in the student's experience. This course will normally be covered in 800 contact hours and will not follow the semester system or be part of the undergraduate programme.

    Note The University runs on a semester system beginning in October. Non-Ugandan students' fees are quoted in US Dollars. Payment may be made in Uganda currency equivalent. All applications and enquiries should be sent to the Academic Registrar. Applications for registration should be accompanied with a non-refundable fee of Ug. Shs. 10,000/= ( US$ 7 ).
