
Ugandans can now
buy houses online

Over the years, the housing industry in Uganda has improved and today, is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. With the ever increasing population in Uganda, many private real estate developers have embraced the concept of organized housing and settlements which would enable the country regain the housing quality it had prior to independence. The expansion of the sector is attributed to government support in macro economic stability which creates a good working environment. Currently, there are over seven private real estate developers in Kampala alone. One of the latest innovations in the housing sector is that one can now own a house via Internet.

Ugandans abroad to buy such houses online
Anatoli Kamugisha, managing director Akright Projects Limited says that Akright has unveiled a new package of enabling people who are on Kyeyo to own a house. He says this is intended to solve the anguish which people face with their relatives who divert the money for the houses to their personal interests.
Akright marketers abroad identify clients through recommendations. “We even have some clients who were satisfied with our services and they recommend them to us. And other clients are identified through our website where they register.” Clients make payments through telegraphic and transfer means regardless of where they are in the world.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended the move saying it saves time, financial and human resources, solving many problems through prearranging the purchase of constructed housing units.
Akright boasts of having sold over 300 houses online.
Similarly with all efforts to modernise he housing industry in Uganda, National Housing and Construction Corporation(NHCC) is set to construct 6170 residential houses before the year 2010 both in Kampala and upcountry. This is geared towards enabling whoever owns a salary to be able to own a housing unit.
