OUTSTANDING
DESIGN AT DIANA, KAMUNTU WEDDING
By
Keturah Kamugasa
BREATHTAKING
is the only word that can describe the interior of Namirembe Cathedral
last Saturday. The long anticipated wedding of Diana Museveni and
Geoffrey Kamuntu is about to take place. I arrive at the Cathedral
at 10:00am. There are flowers everywhere. White roses, chrysanthemums,
gladiolas,red
carnations, leather fern, asparagus and anthuriums cover every space
including the windowsills of the highest windows.
Wreaths of white roses intimately hug the huge pillars with huge
white bows completing the look. Red carnations and white roses line
the aisle and fresh white rose petals are strewn down the aisle,
giving off a fragrant perfume.
Mrs Grace Faith Mbabali of Faith’s Petals and Stems had done
it again. Yet she is humble as I compliment her on a job well done.
What a great woman, so creative and artistic. The
guests did not disappoint.
Elegantly attired, they arrived and added glamour to the splendour
of the Cathedral. The First Lady was the very epitome of style in
a simple champagne suit, brown suede shoes, brown bag and a three-strand
pearl necklace.
She looked calm and serene. As always, Susan Muhwezi
was very elegant in her pink outfit and hat. Other ladies who stood
out were: Best Kemigisa, Toro’s queen mother, Hope Mwesigye,
Hanifa Kawooya, Jacqueline Mbabazi, Mrs Tim Lwanga, Jovia Saleh,
Christine Kintu, Mrs Balagadde Sekadde, Charlotte Muhozi, Natasha
Karugire, the VP’s wife and Mrs Nsaba Buturo. There were many
others whose names I do not know.
Meanwhile, I must have been the
most dreaded person by the ladies. Some ladies would look at me
accusingly. Their husbands helped those who were too shy to give
me ‘that’ look.
One woman actually came up to me and assured me that if I gave her
30% she’d bash my head. I still love my head with its beautiful
hair so I have kept my peace!
Another lady hugged me and said: “I don’t care what
people are writing and saying, you did right to wake them up!”
Some other ladies were wondering why they had not featured in Fashion
Police and yet they were well dressed.
Well, with only two pages, we cannot run photos of everybody. But
the truth is most of the guests honoured their hosts by taking the
trouble to dress appropriately. It was a very colourful ceremony,
full of joy and laughter.
